ATOM FlashCut

Flex HD Series

The ATOM High Daylight Dieless Knife Cutting Table, Flashcut FLEX “HD” Series, is the ideal dieless cutting solution for cutting soft & semi-rigid materials up to 130mm in thickness.

Play Video

The Flashcut FLEX HD Knife Cutters are designed to cut materials such as open and closed cell foams, PVC, PU, Styrene, gasket materials, various plastic materials, adhesive laminates, rubbers, corrugated cardboard, & coupled multi-layered materials like textiles and composites.

The HD series can be equipped 3 different pneumatic oscillating knife chucks with 3 different blade widths and multiple lengths to optimize cutting at different material thicknesses. Special tools are also available in order to perform operations such as creasing, marking (plotting), ink-jet printing, kiss cutting, 45° angle cutting, high speed punching and incision.

Available Cutting Heads

  • Single Tool Cutting Head (Knife Chuck Only)
  • 2-Tool Cutting Head (Knife Chuck and Heavy Creaser Wheel or 45° Angle Knife)
  • 5-Tool Cutting Head (Knife Chuck,  light creaser wheel, kiss cut tools, punches, pen etc..)
  • EMH Milling Head (1 kw Electric Milling Spindle)
  • EMHD Cutting & Milling Head (Knife Chuck + 3kW Electric Milling Spindle)

The powerful 11kW vacuum pump (with the option to add a 2nd 11 kw vacuum pump) coupled with 50 (3015 S Model) independent inverter controlled vacuum sectors (Smart partitioned zoned vacuum) increase the material “hold down” preventing material movement and eliminating the sacrificial sealing of the material (or open area) commonly seen on most knife cutting tables.  Available options include an overhead projection system to better utilize remnants and piece code identification, automatic knife height setting, and the lubrication device to additionally aid in the cutting of thicker polyurethane or cross-linked foams or 1” thick rubber.  All of the HD models are available with either a static working surface or conveyorized belt-fed cutting surface.  To increase productivity, a second cutting gantry is available (Flashcut FLEX 2H), whereas the two cutting beams are completely independent on the same working layout and operate in restricted areas granting nearly double productivity.

Range - Models

The HD Series is available in both a Static (S) or Belt (B) configuration - except 6115, which is only available as a Static (S) table.

Modular Heads

Single Tool Head

The single tool head is a universal module, designed to accept the full range of 40mm tools including pneumatic & electric oscillation, free or driven rotary cutting, kiss cutting, milling-routing, creasing & 45° angle cutting. The versatility of this module makes the cutting system configuration for specific cutting needs very simple & cost-effective. A spanner lock allows for rapid tool changes & the module can work in both pressure & position mode.

Double Tool Head

The double tool head consists of two modules: the first is primarily fitted with the various cutting & milling tools available whilst the second is commonly fitted with the heavy duty creasing tool or the 45° angle knife chuck. The double tool head is commonly used in the packaging industry for companies that cut foam products as well as corrugated materials.

5-Tool Head

The 5-tool cutting head increases the overall versatility of the ATOM Flashcut and is one of the key factor of its success - the ability to total cut, score cut (partial depth cut) & kiss cut with one module, two auxiliary stations that can be equipped with rotating punches for precise small diameter holes, a creaser wheel or kiss cutting knife, a 4th station that includes a marking pen to apply part #’s and trademarks and a 5th non-rotating punch station that is used on light-weight materials. With this versatile head, the Flashcut now becomes a multi-functional production system for a variety of market sectors.

Tooling Combinations

The Pneumatic Oscillating Chuck (POC) – (1.0mm), is an air driven tool engineered for cutting the most difficult materials but is also used for cutting thick, soft substrates as well.

The Pneumatic Oscillating Chuck (POC) – (1.5mm), is an air driven tool engineered for cutting the most difficult materials but is also used for cutting thick, soft substrates as well.

The Drag Knife Chuck (DKC) is ideal for total cutting rigid materials like thin compressed non-asbestos, laminates & plastics up to 6mm (1/4”) in thickness.

The Electric Oscillating Knife Chuck (EOK), is ideal for cutting softer, low-medium density materials like thin foams, soft rubber, pure graphite, leather, laminates, adhesives and similar products.

The pneumatic milling chuck, or PMC, was designed for companies that want the flexibility for light-duty milling applications for rigid materials, primarily plastics (ABS, UHMW, PP, PE etc..), that are not capable of being cut with the traditional pneumatic oscillating knife chuck.

The Powered Rotary Chuck (PRC), is designed for cutting difficult fibrous materials, both uni-lateral & bi-lateral weaves, at a high rate of speed. The PRC is suitable for processing carbon fibers, Kevlar, fiber-glass, aramid and technical textiles & composites in general.

The creaser chuck is ideal for processing a wide range of single, double & triple wall corrugated cardboard. This chuck accommodates creaser wheels with a diameter of 40mm, 70mm and 95mm.
