FEBA F700 Automatic Single Knife Lathe Slitting System

Exhibitions
The FEBA F700 automatic single knife lathe slitting system is the ideal solution for slitting materials large rolls of foams and nonwovens with an outside diameter of 720mm (28"). This system comes standard with a 10" Color Touchscreen, AC brushless motors for X and Y carriage displacement, sonar and laser technology, automatic blade 'AXIS' angle and automatic blade holder positioning technology. Various options can be added to improve production and eliminate operator fatigue like the semi-automatic trolley to load the logs in line with the shaft or automatic front guard lifting device. All models in the F700 range are built accordingly to meet the customers specific converting requirements.

Main Operating Features

Slitting Carriage
Single HSS slitting blade 850mm in outside diameter with an automatic stainless steel guard driven by a 15 HP AC blade motor.

Automatic double sided blade polishing via diamond wheels with 2 x 0.25 kW motors for primary and back angles. Polishing controlled through the PLC and angle inputs are manually adjusted. Polishing heads are manufactured on a dove tail with angles ranging from 0-15 degrees.

The slitting carriage is positioned on precision-ground linear bearings, providing low friction travel and optimum accuracy. Operation of the slitting head is on the horizontal plane.

Proportional blade penetration speed via a brushless motor with: fast approaching to the external diameter of the logs & proportional penetration speed (proportional for the material & adjustable for the core).

Automatic acquisition of the log's diameter via SONAR (automatically positions blade at the different log's diameters),

Automatic acquisition of the blade's outside diameter via laser.

Transversal displacement is performed by a brushless motor that guarantees precision (+/- 0.05mm) and rapid positioning.

Automatic Blade Holder Positioning System. After changing blades, the lathe slitting system will automatically ste it's zero point eliminating the need for the operator to manually set the zero point. In addition, with this technology, we can guarantee the machine will awlays cut through the core since the system will re-set it's machnical stop on the zero point search.

Auxiliary blade handling device to assist operators in blade changeover.

Automatic blade 'AXIS' angle automatically sets the carriage angle accordingly to the different slit widths to eliminate concavity or convexity in the cut roll.

Adjustable dwell period for the holding of the blade against the shaft to perform clean core cutting.

Automatic return of the slitting head.

Adjustable head stops for continuous non-stop sitting cycle.

Automatic Front Guard Lifting Device.

Semi-automatic hydraulic trolley log loading device to lift logs in-line with the shaft. Automatic log load/unload systems are available upon request.
Roll Holding Device
One 3" (other sizes available upon request) rotating shaft with rubber sleeves.

Mounted on the 3" shaft is an automatic air inflation & deflation device, which, on cycle start-up and finish, grips the core internally.

5.5 Hp AC motor for the speed adjustment of the mandrel (material), from 10-1200 RPM with LED display positioned in the PLC.

Adjustable mandrel speed in both directions.

Manual loading & unloading of logs. (An optional hydraulic semi-automatic log load/unload device is available).

Automatic pneumatic shaft holder device with contact proximity.

Operational Controls
The F.E.B.A. F7 00 Automatic Single Knife Log Slitter has two control panels:

The electric controls are positioned on the slitting head carriage and are within easy reach of the operator. They consist of main manual & functional controls, emergency stop, traverse movement & manual cut.

The main electrical control panel is situated on the main machine frame & consists of all operational controls, LED displays, dwell timer, blade direction, PLC check system & electronic porgrammer, etc..

The electronic programmer can store up too 3 different program lines for slit widths (6 available upon request), quantity & batch counting. This system allows the machine to operate a continuous 'non-stop' slitting cycle (except load/unload) through the required programs. In addition, blade polishing data is also fed into the PLC.

OMRON Industrial PLC 10" COLOR TOUCHCREEN for material/slitting recall data with:
  • Alpha-numeric display.
  • Full diagnostic control.
  • Solid state alarm.
  • Lathe slitting instructions with fault finding.
  • All slitting operations stored into PLC including;
    -slit widths
    -quantity per slit width
-partial & total counter for production
    -dwell timer
-blade direction (CW, CCW or Freewheel)
    -mandrel direction (CW, CCW)
    -blade & mandrel RPM
    -proportional penetration speeds
    -core cut speeds
    -lubrication control
    -blade polishing timer & frequency
    -automatic blade 'AXIS' angle control
    -PC connection (option)
    -MODEM link to M.S.C. & F.E.B.A.
    -400 recipes available
All F.E.B.A. lathe slitting machines are fitted with electronic photo sensors which inform the PLC that the following are operable before automatic operation is carried out:
-guard down & in place
-all doors are closed (safety interlocks activated)
-shaft holder up and in place
This is in accordance with 1995 EEC regulations.

All electrics and controls are manufactured in accordance with CENELEC 60204-1.
