FEBA Version 4L-400 Automatic Lathe Slitter

Open House Cincinnati, OH
FEBA Version 4 L 400 LEVEL 4 Automatic Lathe Slitteris suitable for slitting adhesive and self-adhesive tapes, polyesters, kapton, glass cloth, rubberized asphalts, foams, PVC and most kinds of industrial, technical and adhesive tapes. This highly productive log slitting machine has been designed to dramatically reduce the "log change over times". The 4 L 400 has a revolving turret, which is fitted with 4 shafts; two of them will perform the cutting operation while the other two are loaded/unloaded, thus ensuring a non-stop slitting cycle. The slitting carriage is fitted with two 450 mm blades that cut two logs simultaneously. This system can be designed for high production facilities where the logs are loaded automatically from a log container, unloaded automatically including the trim and then the cut parts transferred via conveyors to the packaging line; all this with one operator.

SLITTING HEAD

Twin blade slitting via 2 x kW 5.5 Synchronous AC driven blade motors.

Two circular cutting blades at 450mm OD, with guard in stainless steel.

Automatic double-sided blade-polishing unit via "diamond wheels" with 4 x 0.25 Kw motor for primary and back angles. Polishing controlled through the PLC, and angle inputs being manually adjusted or as and when requested automatically by the operator. Polishing heads are manufactured on a dove tail with angles ranging 0-15 degrees.

The slitting head is positioned on precision-ground linear bearings, providing low friction travel and optimum accuracy. Operation of the slitting head is on the horizontal plane and its slitting movement is effected by one brushless motor which provides smooth carriage travel, thus producing accurate slit rolls.

Transversal displacement is performed by a brushless motor that guarantees precision and rapid positioning.

Automatic positioning of the blade to the various diameters of the logs via sonar.

Automatic positioning of the blade to the fulcrum axis via laser.

Adjustable dwell period for the holding of blade against the shaft to perform clean core cutting.

Automatic return of the slitting head.

Automatic slitting operation.

Automatic adjustable blade "AXIS" angle.

Adjustable head stops for continuous non-stop slitting cycle (except load/unload).

Twin double-sided blades lubrication and wiping system complete with recirculation.

ROLL HOLDING DEVICE

Four 3" rotary shafts mounted on a turret, so that 2 logs are being slit while the other two are being loaded and/or unloaded. Turret is driven by brushless motor.

Mounted on the 3" shafts (other sizes available) is an automatic air inflation and deflation device which, on cycle start-up and finish, grips the core internally.

5 kW motor for the speed adjustment of the material, from 0-600rpm with LED display positioned into the PLC.

Adjustable mandrel speed in both directions.

N. 04 3" rotating shaft complete with removable rubber sleeves and automatic internal pneumatic core gripping device.

Automatic pneumatic shafts gripping device with contact proximity.

Automatic pneumatic shafts holder device with contact proximity.

Automatic Front Guard Lifting Device

Dual Level Semi-Automatic Trolley to Load/Unload Logs In-Line w. Shafts

Industrial PLC type OMRON for material/slitting recall data with:

  • Alpha-numeric display
  • Full diagnostic control
  • Solid state alarm
  • Lathe slitting instructions with fault finding
  • All slitting operations stored into the PLC, including
    -slit width
    -quantity
    -mandrel speed
    -in RPM
    -mandrel directions (clockwise or anti-clockwise)
    -blade speed
    -in RPM
-blade directions (clockwise, anti-clockwise, or freewheel)
    -auto-polishing frequency
-penetration speeds (entry speed and final speed)
    -dwell timer
-automatic positioning of the blade to the various diameters of the logs (optional)
-operator panel touch screen (capacity to load 370 recipes)
-MODEM link to FEBA & MSC

CONTROLS

The F.E.B.A. 4 L 400 Electronic has two control panels.

The electric controls are positioned on the slitting head carriage (in front of the lexan guarding) and are within easy reach of the operator. They consist of main manual and functional controls, emergency stop button, traverse movement and manual cut.

The main electrical control panel is situated on the main machine frame and consists of all operational controls, LED displays, dwell timer, blade direction, PLC check system and electronic programmer, etc.

The electronic programmer can store up to 3 different program lines for slit width, quantity and batch counting. This system allows the machine to operate a continuous ‘non-stop’ slitting (except load/unload) through the required programs. In addition, blade polishing data is also fed into this PLC.

All F.E.B.A. machines are fitted with electronic photo-sensors which inform the PLC that the following features are operable before automatic operation is carried out:
  • guard down and in place;
  • shaft holder up and in place;
This is in accordance with the UK Health and Safety at Work Acts and 1995 EEC Regulations.

All electrics and controls are manufactured in accordance with CEN CENELEC EN 60204-1.

The PLC also checks all machine functions before and during operations.
